09/07/10 - Camperjam '10 -
The beginning of the summer tour
After purchasing my new addition to the bus,
my three rail roof rack, I was loaded and ready to go to Camperjam
'10 by 12.05, which on the boiling hot day it was, it was not
pleasant, but I was hoping for a good journey to keep the breeze
coming in.
Off to bro's to meet him and on arrival he was almost ready with a
last few items to pack. We were on our way by 12.30.
I quick journey cross country saw us reach the M1 at the Flitwick
junction, only to be met immediately with the roadworks and the
traffic stopped to a halt. Not worried about the engine, just
worried about me in the heat, I felt like I was going to melt
Fortunately this did not last long and before we knew it we were
back up to 50 cruising in a two bus convoy.
Three hours later and after a quick stop to assist somebody in their
bus broken down on the A5, we arrived at the gates of Camperjam. The
sun was shining and the people were smiling , perfect.
We found our pitch on the 'Home is where you Park it' field and
parked up the buses side by side with plenty of space for the awning
and the kids tents who are due tomorrow.
Once set up, off we went to check out the stalls. the main
disappointment was the food stalls, there was not much in the way of
decent healthy food, just chips, burgers, etc. A stall selling
baguettes would have been good, or jackets spuds too!
The trade stands were good with a great variety of stalls selling
merchandise, parts, spares, keepsakes and so much more.
A bar that was pretty empty and easy to get served, bargain.
Back to the bus to have a couple of beers before heading back to the
marquees to watch the Blue Brothers tribute and acoustic sounds of
druids Brew, being played form their 21 window bus, nice and mellow.
Great entertainment, great music, great atmosphere and a great
introduction to the world of VW shows.
